Bookish goals: Reading Update!

Hi friends,

It’s been a while. When the month of Ramadan started at the end of April, life got a bit hectic and I decided to take a little break from blogging to focus on myself spiritually during our holy month. I am finally feeling up to blogging and I can’t wait to share all the posts I’ve been drafting!

I wanted to give you all a little reading update and show you how my bookish goals for 2020 is going! I didn’t actually do a post on my bookish goals, can you believe I wrote them and never published it? Here are the goals I made for myself at the beginning of 2020:

  1. Start and complete 5 new series that has been on your TBR for a long time
  2. Read a book from a genre you rarely read
  3. Listen to an audiobook (my first!)
  4. Reread a favourite series
  5. Finish 5 book series that you have already started
  6. Read a book recommended by a friend

Goals that I have completed or semi completed:

  1. Reread a favourite series:

The Winner’s Trilogy

2. Read a book from a genre you rarely read: Middle grade

Percy Jackson and The Lightening Thief

For this I chose Middle grade because I rarely if not ever read middle grade! I really enjoyed PJ&TLT even more than the movie and I’m definitely going to continue the series! I’m currently reading Sea of Monsters.

3. Read a book recommended by a friend:

Get a life, Chloe Brown

4. Continue and finish 5 book series that you have already started:

I have finished 2/5 series:

  • A Court of Thorns and Roses
  • The Lunar Chronicles
  • Caraval
  • The Wrath and The Dawn
  • The Grisha trilogy

5. Start and complete 5 new series that has been on your TBR for a long time!

I started 3 new series!

  • Daughter of a Pirate King
  • The Folk of The Air
  • Stalking Jack the Ripper
  • The Remnant Chronicles
  • Daughter of Smoke and Bone

I DNF’d The Folk of the Air series. What a disappointing series, I can’t believe the hype! I also started and finished Daughter of the Pirate king duology, which was I had a few problems with sadly!

I recently started Stalking Jack the Ripper and I enjoyed the first book enough to continue! I will be ordering the next book and I can’t wait to see where the characters go!

I am actually proud of myself because I have started on some goals and finished others! I have already read 43 / 50 books of my Goodreads challenge! I can’t believe I’ve already almost finished my goal, that never happens! I blame lockdown! Honestly I’ve had more free time to read, which is always the best!

How are you getting along with your bookish goals, if you have any? Let me know 🙂

Until next time,

Asmaa.
