THE GOD DAMN FEELS
Guys I’m getting feels writing this ok.
Let me just start with HOLY CRAP THIS SERIES JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER! At first I thought Crown of Midnight (which I have yet to write a review for) was my favourite but now this is!
I was captured from the first sentence and knew things would get interesting as soon as Rowan showed up! It did take me quite a while to finish this, which is probably due to world building. There was A LOT of world building, which put me in a slump, there was so much information to take in, and if I didn’t have Queen of shadows, I would’ve ended up with such a huge hangover.
So like I said there was quite a lot of development in this book but it was really easy to get into, Sarah J Maas’s writing style just makes you want to keep going! We were introduced to many new things and characters, the witches being one and I was confused half the time with all the new words and clans and bah, and I really just wanted to skip those witch chapters and keep reading about Rowan
but I couldn’t bring myself to but as I went on and understood everything it was fine and I was really intrigued about Manon and the witch’s role in this series. I kind of like Manon. She is badass!
Ok lets move on to Celaena, HOLY CRAP, I swear you think you know everything about Celaena’s but in each book, her character develops and you see so much more of her. In this particular book, I think like her mask is down and everything is revealed. It’s actually so heartbreaking to read about all the emptiness and pain she has been enduring though. Your heart will hurt!
Honestly the character development Celaena undergoes throughout this series is like nothing I’ve read before and that’s what makes this series so fantastic.
The previous book Crown of Midnight left me completely and utterly heartbroken, I was a mess for days especially because I didn’t have Heir of fire and it was torture! (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE HEIR OF FIRE BEFORE YOU FINISH CROWN OF MIDNIGHT). Reading about Chaol broke my heart, (I was completely in love with him, like seriously no one understands how much I love Chaol, his beautiful and passionate character, and he will always have a place in my heart). I still love him still of course, I will always love Chaol. But gah everything is so complicated now! And OH DORIAN MY BABY DORIAN. I just want Dorian to be happy because he deserves to be happy, so does Chaol and I just want them too to be happy and I’ll be happy. I KNOW THIS IS WEIRD BUT I SHIP CHAOL AND DORIAN, THEY ARE MY BROTP! Oh my god just wait for the ending of this book, you will cry your eyes out and then smile and then cry more. This book left me in a blubbering mess.
Ok let’s talk about the new characters because there were quite a lot of new characters, the main one being,
Oh god, I don’t even know where to start with him. I didn’t want to like him at the beginning because I was a hardcore Chaolena shipper (I think I still am, I don’t even know) but as I continued reading, I grew so attached to him, I would just think about him because he is so god damn perfect and god I am in love with Rowan. I want my own Rowan, please someone give me Rowan. WHY DOES SARAH J MAAS KILL US BY CREATING THESE BEAUTIFUL MALE CHARACTERS WE WILL NEVER HAVE IN OUR LIVES!?!
I am crazy in love with him. From the beginning, it was love at first sight honestly! He was so mysterious in the beginning but when he starts opening up and we see the secrets behind his scars, oh good god I fell in love with him with every word he said. He is so kickass, cunning and when he smiles, your heart will melt. All the prickling between him and Celaena, and both their stubbornness makes my heart laugh in joy. Seriously him and Celaena make an excellent team!
“I claim you, Rowan Whitethorn. I don’t care what you say and how much you protest. I claim you as my friend.”
The last few chapters broke my heart! I bawled my eyes out; seriously I put it down then picked it up, because I just didn’t want to continue reading. My heart shattered.
God I am a hot mess right now.
I have never hated anyone more than the King of Adarlan, he is an evil and manipulative bastard who makes Voldemort look like an ant. His greed for power and control makes him so deadly and GOD I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT HE DID AT THE END. OH MY GOD MY HEART. MY POOR HEART.
Oh Dorian, you know in this book, you can truly see Dorian becoming the king his people need, his beautiful and warm hearted, GOD I CANT EVEN RIGHT NOW OK!
I was crying in the waiting room and I didn’t even care because my poor heart.
I FREAKING HATE THE KING OF ADARLAN FOR EVERYTHING HE HAS DONE AND I HOPE CELAENA GUTS HIM, TORTURES HIM, NO HE DOESN’T DIE EASY, CELAENA TAKE YOUR TIME AND MAKE HIM PAY.
It was beyond amazing, it blew me away, and I’m so glad I have Queen of Shadows, I’m already 20 chapters, I’m feeling rather anxious right now and my poor heart can’t take this!
This is a must read series, everyone just leave all the books on your TBR and read this now because you are missing out so much.
So I recently finished Heir of Fire so here’s a little review- ok its not so little but I hoped you enjoyed it!
I haven’t wrote a review for Crown of midnight, I’m still finding it difficult to put words together!
but here’s my review for the first book: Throne of Glass
